Tantallon Pathfinder Campout
On October 2- 4, the Tantallon Pathfinders went to Camp Pugwash for the weekend. Although the group was smaller than usual due to sickness and circumstances, those who attended really enjoyed themselves. We learned about building campfires on the beach and different methods of cooking. During the weekend we learned how to boil water, bake vegetables and apples in tin foil, make bannock bread to fry and how to toast bread and bake an egg in it's shell over a campfire. We had a nature walk on Sabbath before lunch with Bill Harrington, Conference Director helping us to identify different flowers and trees. The group walked along 2 different beaches in search of shells and also viewed a lighthouse for the Lighthouse Honor. Of course no campout is complete without at least one pillow fight and the opportunity to make hand shadows on the ceiling with flashlights. Sunday morning we managed to learn some archery before it was time to pack up and head home just as the rain was beginning. The Pathfinders said they had a lot of fun and even wished it had been longer and I would have to agree that, it truly was a wonderful time.

We had our first meeting on September 20 and it was a great time. We had a guest come to our first meeting, Ann McGivery, from Fredericton. We made bird houses, went over the Law and Pledge and Ashley Lord sang O Canada. Then we all returned to my house for a birthday party and a large feed of Chinese food. Our next meeting is scheduled for next Sunday, October 4. Our Honors we plan on working on this year are, Red Alert, Indian Lore, Basic Rescue, Leather Craft, Basic Sewing, Cat, Digital Photography, and in the spring Canoeing, Edible Wild Plants, and Tree. Most are to prepare for the Pugwash Camporee. All but 2 of our members have the Archery Honor.
